Copenhagen Business School

CBS is a single-subject university: everything it teaches is business, economics or something deliberately bolted onto business — sociology, politics, philosophy, shipping.

What you could study here

What it asks of IB students

Last year's cut-offs: 37–42 IB points, by degree.

Where it says so

Worth knowing

A, B and C are Danish subject levels, not grades.

All 9 notes
  • A, B and C are Danish subject levels, not grades. The minimum grade of 6.0 attached to English B (and to Mathematics B on the Sociology programme) is a grade on the Danish 7-point scale, and corresponds to an IB subject grade of 5 under CBS's own conversion.
  • CBS does not round up: "If you have passed a subject with an average grade of 5.5 on the Danish scale and the grade requirement is 6.0, you do not meet the requirement. We do not round grades up."
  • A subject passed at A level automatically satisfies a 6.0 grade requirement at B level in that subject. So IB Mathematics HL clears the Mathematics B minimum 6.0 requirement on the Sociology programme regardless of the grade.
  • Every English-taught programme has two English hurdles: the specific entry requirement of English B with a minimum grade of 6.0, and the separate language requirement of English A. Most IB English subjects clear both, but English B at Standard Level clears only the first.
  • All six English-taught programmes count a motivational essay in the quota 2 assessment — but only for applicants who finished school at least three months before the quota 2 deadline. Read the quota notes below before planning around it.
  • CBS's English-taught portfolio has shrunk. BSc in International Business in Asia (Chinese) and BSc in International Business in Asia (Japanese) appear in CBS's own admission figures for 2023 and 2024 and have gone by 2026. CBS's policy page states that "As a general rule, CBS establishes all programmes it offers but may choose to depart from this principle in cases where dimensioning requirements and financial considerations carry greater weight." Programme closure, rather than a cut to the size of each intake, is how dimensioning has shown up here so far: study places on the surviving English-taught degrees were flat or slightly up between 2022 and 2026.
  • Applications keep rising. Between 2025 and 2026 total applications rose 23 per cent for International Business, 27 per cent for International Business and Politics and 32 per cent for International Shipping and Trade, so the 2026 cut-offs should be read as a floor rather than a forecast.
  • CBS teaches on one campus around Solbjerg Plads in Frederiksberg. There is no second city to consider.
  • The TOEFL institutional code for CBS is 7035 if you need a language test instead of a qualifying English subject.
