What it is
You study mathematics, physics, engineering design, mechanics, materials and control systems, then specialise in mechatronics, robotics, production engineering, finite element analysis and machine design, with attention to digital design environments and the product life cycle. Teaching combines lectures, exercises, projects and extensive laboratory work, and students can use the Jamie Hyneman Center prototyping lab. Minors include energy economics and sustainability science. Graduates work as design engineers, production managers and product development engineers in machinery, automotive, energy and healthcare, or continue to master's programmes in industrial design engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
