What it asks of IB students

Last year's cut-offs: 21–32 IB points, by degree.

Where it says so

Worth knowing

AAU lists exactly five bachelor's degrees for international students.

All 7 notes
  • AAU lists exactly five bachelor's degrees for international students. Four are taught in English and are listed here. The fifth, Language and International Studies, English (Aalborg), is listed on the same page but its own programme page states the language of instruction is Danish and requires Danish A, so it is not included.
  • Three of the four English-taught degrees are at Campus Esbjerg on the west coast of Jutland, not in Aalborg. Esbjerg is a small port city and AAU's campus there is correspondingly small.
  • Problem-based learning is not a slogan at AAU: roughly half of each semester is a group project, assessed by an oral group examination. If you dislike sustained group work, this is worth knowing before you apply.
  • Applied Industrial Electronics admitted all qualified applicants in 2026, but AAU states that "From 2027, the programme is restricted in admission", which is the year an IB May 2027 cohort would enter.
  • The quota split for Energy Engineering is not confirmed here; the programme page describes quota 1 and quota 2 selection without figures.
  • Note AAU's own reminder that A, B and C are course levels, not grades; the minimum grade of 4.0 attached to Mathematics A is a grade on the Danish 7-point scale.
  • Application area number for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology on optagelse.dk is 26525.
