What you could study here

What it asks of IB students

Last year's cut-offs: 30–43 IB points, by degree.

Where it says so

Worth knowing

A, B and C are Danish subject levels, not grades.

All 8 notes
  • A, B and C are Danish subject levels, not grades. AU repeats this on each programme page: "B-level is the Danish subject level, not the grade."
  • AU attaches a converted-GPA floor to quota 1 on five of the six English-taught programmes: you need at least 6.0 on the Danish 7-point scale in your qualifying examination to be assessed in quota 1 at all. Below that, your application can only go through quota 2. Economics and Business Administration in Herning does not state such a floor.
  • Computer Science, Data Science and IT Product Development add a second floor: a minimum GPA of 6.0 in Mathematics A specifically, on top of the overall 6.0.
  • The 6.0 floor is not the cut-off. The cut-off is what the last admitted applicant actually scored, and in 2026 that was 11.4 for Computer Science and 11.2 for Data Science.
  • AU tells "Danish applicants" (on its Data Science page, "applicants with Danish A") to treat the English-taught Computer Science, Data Science and IT Product Development degrees as the harder route and to apply to the Danish-taught equivalents (Datalogi, Datavidenskab, It-produktudvikling) as well. For Data Science AU says outright that the English version "is intended for international students". The two versions lead to the same English-taught master's.
  • The standby cut-off is published next to the quota 1 cut-off and is usually lower — dramatically so for IT Product Development in 2026 (10.1 in quota 1, 6.9 for standby). You have to tick standby when you apply, and the standby application deadline is 5 July.
  • Herning is not Aarhus. AU Herning is a small campus roughly an hour west of Aarhus in a town of about 50,000, running a few business, engineering and technology programmes. Its Economics and Business Administration degree is academically similar to the Aarhus one but had a 2026 cut-off of 6.9 against 9.2.
  • Non-EU/EEA students should read the paying-applicant rule before anything else: the 15 March documentation deadline means you cannot be assessed on results you receive in July, so a May 2027 IB candidate who is a paying applicant would need to apply a year later.
