University of Copenhagen

The first thing to know about the University of Copenhagen, for anyone finishing an IB, is that you cannot study there at bachelor level without fluent academic Danish.

Worth knowing

There are no fully English-taught bachelor's degrees at the University of Copenhagen.

All 7 notes
  • There are no fully English-taught bachelor's degrees at the University of Copenhagen. UCPH's own bachelor page reads: "Kickstart your career at UCPH and explore 78 bachelor's degree programmes - all are taught in Danish" and, separately, "UCPH only offers bachelor's degree programmes taught in Danish." The programmes list below is therefore empty, and that is the accurate answer rather than an omission.
  • This is a bachelor-level fact only. UCPH runs around 120 master's programmes, many of them in English, so Copenhagen is a realistic destination after a bachelor's degree elsewhere — including after an English-taught bachelor at CBS, DTU, AU, AAU, ITU or RUC.
  • If you genuinely want UCPH at bachelor level, the route is Danish. Either take Danish A as your IB Language A or B HL subject, or plan to pass Studieprøven i dansk som andetsprog. Studieprøven is normally reached after roughly two to three years of Danish courses, so this is a decision to take in the first year of the Diploma Programme at the latest.
  • The converted 6.0 GPA floor sits on top of the language requirement, not instead of it. Both have to be cleared.
  • Quota 2 at UCPH involves a test and an interview conducted in Danish, Norwegian or Swedish — a further reason why applying without the language is not viable.
  • A, B and C are Danish subject levels, not grades. The 6.0 is a grade point average on the Danish 7-point scale.
  • Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA bachelor applicants are not confirmed here; ask UCPH.
