Last year's cut-offs: 32–35 IB points, by degree.

Worth knowing

Campus is the single biggest decision at SDU, because the towns are genuinely far apart and nothing like each other.

All 10 notes
  • Campus is the single biggest decision at SDU, because the towns are genuinely far apart and nothing like each other.
  • Sønderborg holds eleven of SDU's fifteen fully English-taught bachelor's degrees. It is a small town on the island of Als in the far south of Jutland, closer to Flensburg in Germany than to any large Danish city, and several hours from Copenhagen by train. The campus, Alsion, is a single modern building shared with a concert hall, and the student body there is strongly international — partly because Danish applicants mostly do not move that far south. Mads Clausen's company Danfoss is based next door, which is why so much of the engineering sits here.
  • Vejle is SDU's newest campus and holds four English-taught degrees, all of them IT. Vejle is a mid-sized town on the east coast of Jutland on the main motorway and rail line, with a cluster of IT employers nearby, so student jobs are realistic.
  • Odense is SDU's headquarters and Denmark's third-largest city, half an hour from Copenhagen by fast train — but only one fully English-taught bachelor's degree is taught there, Market and Management Anthropology. If you want Odense and you do not speak Danish, your options are almost nil at bachelor level.
  • SDU also has campuses in Kolding, Esbjerg, Slagelse and Copenhagen. None of them currently offers a fully English-taught bachelor's degree, so they are not options for an IB student who does not read Danish.
  • Robot Systems (Robotteknologi) in Odense is often assumed to be English-taught. It is not: SDU lists its tuition language as Danish. Robotics in English at SDU means Mechatronics in Sønderborg at bachelor level.
  • International Business Administration, Language and Culture (Sønderborg and EUF Flensborg) is listed among SDU's international programmes but is excluded here: SDU gives its tuition language as "English, German and Danish" and it requires Danish level A plus German at A or B level. It took only 6 students in 2026.
  • "All qualified applicants accepted" appears against most of the Sønderborg and Vejle programmes for 2026. That does not remove the entry requirements or the quota 1 GPA floor — it means everyone who met them and applied on time was offered a place.
  • The gap between expected places and the number actually admitted runs both ways. Mechatronics BSc expected 100 places and admitted 98; Software Engineering in Sønderborg expected 120 and admitted 44; Artificial Intelligence in Vejle expected 30 and admitted 66. Treat the place counts as planning figures, not caps.
  • A, B and C are Danish subject levels, not grades. SDU repeats this on every programme page: "A is advanced, B is intermediate, and C is beginner level."
