4 faculties: what each looks for
  • Humanities Division: 30 degrees, most at AAA; you send written work rather than sit a test, and a modern language where the degree is language-based.
  • Social Sciences Division: Law, PPE, Economics and more: LNAT for Law, TARA for PPE and Economics and Management; Maths needed for Economics and Management.
  • Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division: Maths or a science is required almost everywhere; ESAT or TMUA for Physics, Engineering, Maths and Computer Science.
  • Medical Sciences Division: Medicine: UCAT, then interview, and Chemistry plus another science or Maths. Biomedical Sciences takes the ESAT.

What it asks of IB students

38, 39 or 40 points including core, depending on the course, with 6s and 7s at HL; many courses name HL subjects. If your IB is taught in English, Oxford will consider exempting you from an English test.
