The 13th for 2027 entry, where 2026 entry used the 14th. The date moves between cycles, so a figure remembered from a sibling’s year is worth re-checking.

Every application that arrives by this time must be given equal consideration. Applications after it are only looked at if places remain.

4 faculties: what each looks for
  • Faculty of Arts: MA degrees: 38 points (HL 6,6,6) is the standard offer, 36 (HL 6,5,5) the minimum; each degree page names any subjects.
  • Faculty of Divinity: Offers the BD, an MA or an MTheol; you apply to a degree, and St Andrews offers run from 36 (HL 6,5,5) to 38 (HL 6,6,6).
  • Faculty of Science: BSc and integrated master's degrees; physical sciences want HL 6 in Maths and Physics, e.g. Astrophysics. Some subjects also run in Arts.
  • Faculty of Medicine: Medicine closes 15 October: UCAT ranks applicants for interviews; 38 points with HL Chemistry and one more science.

What it asks of IB students

36 (HL 6,5,5) to 38 (HL 6,6,6 plus SL 6,6,6), depending on the degree. Where A-level Maths is required, HL Maths AA or AI is accepted. Medicine asks 38 with HL Chemistry.

An EU citizen living in the EU usually has Overseas fee status: £33,250 a year in Arts, Divinity or Science for 2026-27, and 2027-28 fees were not yet out.

All 3 notes
  • An EU citizen living in the EU usually has Overseas fee status: £33,250 a year in Arts, Divinity or Science for 2026-27, and 2027-28 fees were not yet out.
  • Overseas-fee students may apply direct (£50 fee) or through the Common App instead of UCAS, but it still counts as one of your five UK choices.
  • Degrees usually take four years, with broad first years; in Arts the degree is called an MA, which equals a BA elsewhere, not a master’s.
