What it is
The first semesters give broad introductions to the social sciences and the history of international relations, followed by core subjects such as diplomacy, international organisations, international law and modern international history, plus political science, economics, law and research methods. The course stresses communication, negotiation and writing. You choose between Diplomacy and International Communication, with security and foreign policy analysis and model diplomacy exercises, and International Development Cooperation, with a semester-long project. The final semester brings a thesis and a compulsory internship. Graduates become diplomats, policy analysts, NGO and think tank staff or public administrators, or continue to a master's.
What you need
- No IB points rule: finish secondary school with overall marks above 50%. English is judged in a compulsory online interview (IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 69 accepted, not required); art degrees need a portfolio.
