Orchestral conducting is the main subject, taught in English in the academy's six-semester BA. Programmes of this kind typically centre on score study and rehearsal technique for the symphonic repertoire, supported by ear training, harmony, music history and piano, with chances to work with ensembles in practice. Graduates usually continue to a master's in conducting, and careers lie with orchestras, opera and concert organisations and music education.
| Path | What is different |
|---|---|
| Choir conducting | Choral repertoire rehearsed with a live choir; in-person exam only. |
| Orchestral conducting | Orchestral repertoire conducted from memory. |
Your IB Diploma is the school certificate, but BA applicants need an official Hungarian translation of it. English: TOEFL iBT 60, IELTS 5.0 or Cambridge 154. The audition decides, not IB grades.
