What it is

The course draws on chemistry, biology and engineering: organic, physical and polymer chemistry sit beside cell and molecular biology, human anatomy, tissue engineering, biomedical materials science and process engineering. Instrumental analysis, toxicology and risk assessment and good manufacturing practice prepare you for industry. You work in specialised laboratories, complete a product development project, two internships and a final project. Pathways in Innovation Development or Pedagogy are available, and exchange partners include Aveiro and the Technical University of Denmark. Graduates develop biomedical materials and technologies or work as experts and researchers in companies such as Thermo Fisher Scientific.
