What it is
The first years build a base in mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology, followed by organic and physical chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, and molecular and cell biology. Later modules cover chromatography, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, immunology and pharmaceutical biotechnology, with electives in environmental biotechnology. Teaching leans on laboratory sessions and course projects, a semester-long internship in a Lithuanian or foreign company, and a two-semester bachelor thesis with original research. Graduates are prepared for biotechnology, healthcare, food and agriculture research, bioenergy and quality-control laboratories, or for master's study such as Biomedical Engineering.
