What it is
Mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering mechanics come first, followed by materials in medicine, biomechanics, human anatomy and physiology, and the design of medical, rehabilitation, orthopaedic and assistive devices and artificial organs. Later modules cover medical equipment, diagnostics, medical robots, rehabilitation technologies and medical psychology. You work in laboratories and on design projects, spend a semester in an internship with a company that designs or makes medical equipment, and complete a bachelor thesis involving research and design. Graduates work in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, medical device and orthopaedic companies, or go on to master's study such as Biomedical Engineering.
