What it is

The first semesters cover general biology, chemistry, biotechnology and mathematics, then organic chemistry, physics and genetics, followed by biochemistry, immunology, cell cultures, enzymology, bioinformatics, omic technologies and AI in biotechnology. Teaching centres on laboratory work with modern equipment, two internship periods with partners such as Thermo Fisher Scientific, and a bachelor thesis. Partner companies help shape the curriculum and give guest lectures, and electives include fermentation technologies and food biotechnology. Graduates work in research laboratories, biopharmaceutical and food industries, cosmetics or environmental agencies, or continue to a master's.
