What it is

You study English phonetics, linguistics, morphology and syntax alongside British, American and Canadian literature, translation strategies and language teaching methodology. Practical elements include career-planning training, translation practice, corpus analysis and a qualifying teaching practice. Electives cover semantics and pragmatics, sociolinguistics, literature and media, and American and British civilisation. The programme works with schools, translation agencies, language course providers and international companies. Graduates become translators, interpreters and English teachers, work in banks, businesses and EU organisations, or go on to master's and doctoral study.
