    Not an official deadline. With a Dutch address you log in with DigiD, which the government says takes about five days. Without one you upload a scan or photo of your passport or EU identity card and Studielink verifies it automatically. Either way, do it well before 15 January.

What it is

You study the structure and acquisition of English, literature from Shakespeare to contemporary authors, the culture of Britain and other English-speaking countries, and Old and Middle English texts in the original, while building advanced spoken and written English. Language change is linked to societal change over time. Teaching is in English with a personal approach between students and lecturers, and specialisation courses in years two and three let you tailor the programme. Year three can include a minor, an internship or study abroad. Graduates move into academic careers, the public and private sectors, or media and cultural institutions such as film festivals, or continue to a master in literary studies.

What you need

  • Full IB Diploma required (not certificates); send grade 11, November grade 12 and predicted grades. English-taught IB or English A HL waives the English test. Science programmes set HL subjects.
