What it is
The degree has a general academic profile and builds a broad grounding in analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, with further study of chemical technology, instrumental analysis, spectral methods and crystallochemistry. Specialisation is in general chemistry rather than a narrow branch. Graduates find work in the chemical industry, in chemical and analytical laboratories, in quality control, in research centres, in product development and in companies supplying equipment and reagents.
