What it is
Quantum physics is combined with classical and quantum computing, AI, photonics, electronics and materials engineering, alongside physics, chemistry, mathematics, electrical engineering, metrology, crystallography, microscopy and materials processing. Materials engineering makes up about half of the curriculum, covering functional materials and nanostructures, thin-film structures for qubit platforms, quantum sensors and quantum communication systems. You work in laboratories and on CAD/CAM projects, complete a four-week internship after semester 6, and prepare a thesis. Graduates go into research and development, process optimisation, medical and other diagnostics, sensing, and quantum hardware and software.
What you need
- Any IB MathsScored ×2.5 in the ranking: HL 7 = 200 points, SL 7 = 100.
- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science or Geography (SL or HL)Your best one is scored ×2; HL counts 100 points more than SL.
Requirements in full
Every IB applicant at Poznan University of Technology
Ranked on IB Maths plus the best science, out of 1,000 points; HL scores more (HL 7 = 200, SL 7 = 100) and 200 points are needed. The IB Diploma covers English and needs no NAWA recognition.
How places are decided
- Ranked on IB Maths (×2.5) and your best science or geography (×2), HL worth more; 200 of 1,000 needed. 2026 criteria and places; 2027 not yet published.
The last cut-off
Last admitted in 2026: 345.5 of 1,000 points.
