What it is

The degree responds to a mining industry in transition, as coal declines and construction materials and other raw materials gain weight. You study geological exploration and deposit design, surface and underground mining, mineral processing, land reclamation and post-mining restoration, mining law and occupational safety, and the use of mining and transport equipment. Theory is paired with practical problem-solving in the field, and you can steer your focus through electives. Graduates meet the Czech requirements for management posts and work in mining, quarrying, design, safety, public administration and remediation.

What you need

  • Ranked on your penultimate-year school average (Czech-style marks) and an online English test, 21 of 50 to pass (B1); a B1 certificate is needed unless you studied in English.

Every IB applicant at VSB-TUO

VSB accepts a certified copy of the IB Diploma with no CZK 800 assessment fee. It asks for no IB points or subjects; each faculty ranks on its own test, or on a school average plus an English test.
