What it is
You study mathematics, programming, strategic management, corporate finance, global economics and design process skills, with a focus on responsible, sustainable technology. In the first year you choose a major in technology (mechanical and civil engineering, computer and data science, or digital systems and design), in business, or in design and technology. Teaching combines team projects, industry collaboration and iterative design work, a year-long product development project in the design track, and a bachelor's thesis, with minors and electives to tailor the degree. The programme connects to Aalto's startup community, and graduates go into software, data science, product design, consulting and founding companies.

Requirements in full
Every IB applicant at Aalto
IB applicants go in admission round B, ranked on IB grades with national scoring tables. HL and SL score the same; engineering options need advanced maths at 6. No English test needed.
How places are decided
- Pass the preliminary assignment (published 17 Dec 2026), then you are ranked on IB grades. Places are to be announced by October 2026.
