What it is

The degree applies computing, mathematics and statistics to genomic data. You start with mathematical analysis, algebra, physics and chemistry, then study genetics, biochemistry and the molecular biology of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, together with programming, statistics, algorithms, multi-scale modelling and computational simulation. Bioinformatics skills include analysing nucleic acids, proteins and omic datasets, mining and managing biological databases and the bioethics of sensitive data, complemented by a data science subject. Learning includes laboratory work, projects, internships and a thesis. Graduates can annotate and curate biological datasets and interpret omic data in systems biology, or continue to further study.

What you need

  • SAT for the first round; later rounds use TOLC-I, which is in Italian.
