What it is
Study is organised in four areas: theoretical linguistics (phonology, syntax, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, cognitive linguistics), interdisciplinary linguistics with research methods, experimental work and field studies, language technology such as text processing, building language databases and speech analysis, and academic English covering pronunciation, discourse, grammar and public speaking. Training includes placements in companies. Graduates go into firms working with language data and language technologies, editorial and media work, PR, advertising, translation, education, market and opinion research, and journalism.
