What it is
Over seven semesters you study mathematics, physics, chemistry and computing, engineering basics such as mechanics, materials science and metrology, and the biomedical core of anatomy, biophysics, biomechanics, bioinformatics and biomaterials. Further topics include medical apparatus, imaging techniques, surgical instruments, prosthetics, CAD/CAM, signal processing, robotics and tissue engineering. Teaching uses laboratories, design projects, seminars with medical doctors and physiotherapists, a four-week internship in semester 6 and a supervised thesis. A master's degree follows in medical and rehabilitation devices or implant and prosthetics engineering, and graduates design medical devices, implement technology in healthcare or manage medical device products.
