What it is
The first year covers calculus, algebra, geometry and combinatorics, before the course branches into analysis (including differential equations and functional analysis), algebra, differential geometry, discrete mathematics, probability, statistics and operations research. Programming and mathematical modelling run alongside, with accounting and economics courses as a practical side. You choose elective advanced topics, such as numerical methods, stochastics or a research project, and finish with a bachelor thesis. Graduates work in banking, investment, insurance, consulting, data mining and telecommunications, or continue to a master's in mathematics or applied mathematics, and to a PhD.
What you need
- No IB points rule: the Diploma counts as your school-leaving certificate and an English-medium school certificate can replace an English test. Entry turns on BME's own online tests.
