What it is

You begin with experimental physics (mechanics, electricity, thermodynamics, modern physics), mathematics, programming and electronics, with a lot of time in laboratory exercises. Later you take theoretical mechanics, quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, statistical physics, optics and solid-state physics. In the final year you choose between a Physicist specialisation, which leans towards theory and programming, and an Applied Physics one, with more lab work and informatics. The thesis involves research with international teams in areas such as quantum physics, nanotechnology, materials, medical physics and data science. Graduates go into research or industries like semiconductors, optics, medical devices, nuclear energy and data analysis.

What you need

  • No IB points rule: the Diploma counts as your school-leaving certificate and an English-medium school certificate can replace an English test. Entry turns on BME's own online tests.
