What it is

This course pairs engineering with a stronger natural-science base than most engineering degrees: mechanics, electrodynamics, optics, thermodynamics, condensed matter and statistical physics, together with advanced mathematics. You also learn programming, numerical algorithms and machine learning, plus measurement methods, CAD, electronics and sensing. Specialisations cover nanotechnology and quantum applications, nuclear technologies and sustainable energetics, or scientific data processing. It was developed with industrial partners and includes a six-week internship and a thesis. Graduates move into research and development, data science, AI, energy, medical devices and semiconductors, or on to engineering or physics master's programmes and PhDs.

What you need

  • No IB points rule: the Diploma counts as your school-leaving certificate and an English-medium school certificate can replace an English test. Entry turns on BME's own online tests.
