What it is
The early years build mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, design and drafting, and physics applied to mechanical systems. Learning is hands-on and project-based, with extensive practical work in labs and workplaces, research assignments for companies, team projects such as a hovercraft, roller coaster or drone, and coaching for personal development. In later years you follow an Engineering, Energy or Innovation focus. The programme draws on the Brainport Eindhoven high-tech region, on a campus shared with TU/e, and on Greenport Venlo. Graduates work as engineers, sustainability project leaders, technical buyers or in medical R&D, and can continue at Fontys or TU/e.

Requirements in full
Every IB applicant at Fontys
The IB Diploma is named as giving access. Many programmes also want satisfactory maths grades, engineering also physics or chemistry, with no IB grade set. An IB Diploma usually exempts you from an English test.
How places are decided
- Not selective: meet the requirements and you are admitted. Apply in Studielink by 1 May 2027; a study choice check talk is optional.
