Not an official deadline. With a Dutch address you log in with DigiD, which the government says takes about five days. Without one you upload a scan or photo of your passport or EU identity card and Studielink verifies it automatically. Either way, do it well before 15 January.

What it is
First-year courses include The Americas, Theories of Culture, American Politics, a course on how identities are mediated in stories and one on Latin American and Canadian literature, taught in seminars with close contact with faculty. You write papers and also produce TED talks, editorials, exhibits and apps, and practise writing and speaking in American Studies in Practice. In year two you choose among a Media specialisation, Global USA and changing special topics, and you can spend a semester at a partner university in the United States, take a minor, and write a BA thesis. Graduates work in journalism, banking, culture, government and communications, or move on to master programmes such as Euroculture or Digital Humanities.
What you need
- The IB Diploma counts as Dutch VWO; no minimum points. An IB taught in English waives the English test.
