What it is
The programme follows drug development from the first question to the finished product. Year one has four compulsory courses on the drug pipeline: clinical development, how drugs and the body interact, the drug and the cell, and the drug molecule. Year two adds immunopharmacology, psychopharmacology, analytical methods and pharmaceutical biotechnology, plus electives, and year three is mostly electives such as Medicinal Chemistry or Omics in Oncology. Teaching is project-based, with frequent labs run by active researchers and classes of at most 60. You carry out your own research project in year three in a research group at Utrecht University or its medical centre.

The IB Diploma counts as equivalent to VWO. IB English A or B, SL or HL, meets every UU English level.
How places are decided
- Numerus fixus: apply by 15 Jan 2027, questionnaire by 31 Jan. You need 3.0/5 on the questionnaire and reference, and 3.0/5 on an essay written on 1 March (online from abroad).
