What it is
Year one lays the groundwork with mathematics, physics, chemistry, information technology, manufacturing processes, engineering drawing, fundamentals of mechanical engineering and materials science. Teaching combines lectures, laboratories, seminars and project classes where you learn design and CAD, and a practical placement comes in the final year. For the diploma you choose one of nine profiles, for example ropeway transport systems, earthmoving and heavy-duty machinery, energy technologies, manufacturing process engineering, advanced design methods or ecological systems engineering. Graduates design mechanical systems, and the programme reports that most find work within months, at firms such as Valeo, Delphi and ABB.
