What it is

The first two years pair mathematical analysis, algebra, mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, quantum and statistical physics with programming, algorithms, Unix, object-oriented programming and numerical methods. Teaching mixes lectures, problem-solving classes, laboratories and workshops, and you are assessed through exams and projects. Electives let you lean towards artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science, GPU computing, digital systems or scientific computing. Graduates go into research institutes, engineering firms, high-performance computing centres and industrial R&D, or on to a master's in a physics-related field such as Technical Physics.
