What it is
You study cell structure and organelles, biomolecules such as sugars, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids, the transmission of genetic information, human physiology and the immune system, metabolic pathways, bioinformatics, and biotechnology applied to pharmaceuticals and agriculture. A large share of your time is spent in the laboratory running experiments, analysing results and writing reports, with internships and electives that let you steer towards your career interests. Graduates work as research scientists, industrial, medical or agricultural biotechnologists, project managers, lab technicians, clinical medical representatives, science editors and teachers, or start their own ventures.
What you need
- Every foreign applicant, IB holders included, sits an online oral exam in biology and chemistry (pass mark 10 of 20).

Every IB applicant at University of Wroclaw
IB holders skip the foreigners' entrance exam on every bachelor's except Biotechnology. The IB Diploma counts as B2 English and needs no recognition in Poland.

How places are decided
- Oral exam in biology and chemistry, 0-20 points, at least 10 to pass; places go to passing candidates within the limit (30 in 2026). 2027 rules.
