What it is

The programme links the foundations of domestic and international politics, economics and philosophy, and trains you to analyse social, political and economic problems from complementary angles, including the ethics of political decisions in diverse and unequal societies. After compulsory courses in the first three semesters you choose one of three tracks: politics and philosophy, economics and politics, or philosophy and economics, which sets your electives and thesis focus. Graduates go into politics, diplomacy, public service, policy analysis, journalism, NGOs, banking and business, or on to master's study.

What you need

  • No entrance exam: ranked on your academic record (65 points) and motivation and activities (35). Strong school maths matters for the economics tracks.

Charles accepts an IB Diploma automatically, with no assessment fee. Each faculty runs its own selection; a few faculty pages still list a recognition fee for foreign diplomas, so ask.
