What it is
The first two years teach the structure and function of the human body from molecules to organ systems, with first-aid training and simulation-centre work. Years three and four add preclinical subjects and propaedeutics of internal medicine and surgery, taught in the university hospital, and the final two years are fully clinical in internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics and preventive medicine. Teaching uses virtual dissection tables, 3D scans and microscopes, clinical groups of five to seven students, and hospital placements in years two and four, including abroad. Graduates can work as general practitioners or specialists, or pursue doctoral study.

Charles accepts an IB Diploma automatically, with no assessment fee. Each faculty runs its own selection; a few faculty pages still list a recognition fee for foreign diplomas, so ask.
