What it is

The first semesters give a general introduction to special needs education and its related fields, including human biology, theory of education, psychology and the arts. From the third semester you specialise in one or two of four areas: hearing impairment, intellectual disability, visual impairment, or physical and multiple disabilities. Field visits run through the course, and the last semester is a professional practice period in an institution linked to your specialisation. Graduates work as early intervention specialists, special school teachers, inclusive education support teachers and rehabilitation instructors in education, healthcare and social services.

What you need

  • The IB Diploma counts as your secondary certificate (ELTE wants it equivalent to the Hungarian matriculation). English B2, or an English-medium school certificate; economics degrees encourage IB results.
