Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre · Lithuania
A performer's degree with string instruments as the main subject: preparing and performing works in many styles as a soloist or in ensembles, with music history and theory.
The degree centres on a principal string instrument (violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp or guitar), studied through seven semesters. Orchestra life is built in through symphony orchestra and orchestral parts and sight-reading, and chamber music is compulsory, with a string quartet for violin, viola and cello players. Theory, ear training, music analysis, the history of string instruments and of Lithuanian music complete the core, followed by professional practice and a final art project plus a chamber ensemble project.
