What it is
The first years build foundations in 2D and 3D design, visual and colour analysis, photography, graphic design, parametric design, philosophy, psychology, art anthropology and fashion history. Learning is studio-based in workshops for ceramics, metalwork, woodwork, sewing, screen printing and digital fabrication, with projects across specialisations carried out with business and community partners. In year two you choose Message (communication design), Object (product design) or Space (spatial design), and in the fourth year you complete a graduation project with design and written parts, supervised by two staff members.
What you need
- A portfolio (up to 20 pages) and an online interview in English about it; 50 of 80 points to be recommended.

Every IB applicant at SWPS University
No entrance exam and no NAWA statement for an IB Diploma: send it with proof of B2 English (an IB taken in English counts). Design adds a portfolio interview.
How places are decided
- Upload documents and portfolio, then a remote portfolio interview on set dates; pass with 50 of 80, then places go in order until full.
